The recesses of the retro-tympanum.
OBJECTIVE To study the anatomy of the posterior tympanic wall and to describe the four recesses (Sinus Tympani-ST, Lateral Tympanic Sinus-LTS, Posterior Tympanic Sinus-PTS, Facial Recess-FR) with their variations in shape, dimension, internal configuration. MATERIAL AND METHODS Thirty-seven cadaver temporal bones were examined through the anterior dissection approach. The opening was enlarged...
متن کاملTyrosine phosphorylation in the human duodenum.
Many growth factor receptors including the epidermal growth factor receptor function through tyrosine kinase activity. The aim of this study was to examine the constitutive level of tyrosine phosphorylation in the normal duodenum and in the hyperproliferative coeliac duodenum. A flow cytometric assay was devised using monoclonal antibody to phosphorylated (but not native) tyrosine residues to d...
متن کاملEpithelial calcium transporter expression in human duodenum.
Calcium absorption in intestine and kidney involves transport through the apical membrane, cytoplasm, and basolateral membrane of the epithelial cells. Apical membrane calcium influx channels have recently been described in rabbit (epithelial calcium channel, ECaC) and rat (calcium transport protein, CaT1). We amplified from human duodenum a 446-base partial cDNA probe (ECAC2) having a predicte...

A 55-year-old Japanese man without dyslipidemia underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy screening. He was diagnosed with reflux esophagitis, atrophic gastritis, and multiple gastric ulcers. In addition, scattered white villi were seen in the superior duodenal angle. No white villi were seen in any other parts of the duodenum. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy performed three months after Helicobacter pyl...
متن کاملCarcinoma of the duodenum.
We report two patients with primary adenocarcinoma of the duodenum who underwent successful pancreatico-duodenectomy (modified Whipple operation). One patient died from an unrelated cause three years following surgery whilst the other remains well and clinically free of disease 3 years after resection. An aggressive surgical policy in patients with this rare tumour seems justified.
